Make Good use of Meta Tags

There are two very important meta tags which need to be included on all pages that are important to be ranked on, these are the keywords and description tags.

Keywords

Whilst of less importance than perhaps in the mid to late nineties the keywords tag is useful to some of the search engines to indicate to them what the terms are you want to be ranked on, the search engines are not however dumb and will generally no longer rank your page for keywords that are irrelevant but have been stuffed into the keywords tag.

Description

The description tag gives you a chance to indicate to the search engines what your page is all about, they don't always display them but when they do, the length need to be chosen carefully to fit into the space available on a type search results page.
